This sounds very critical towards "dems", in my view. They count on some godlike liberators, do they? Seems like yes. Somebody should organize us to resist, to make the world better, to save the planet, and the like. "The planet is okay", Carlin said.

As to the opposite side, I don't share their weird beliefs, but people here count on themselves. Today a neighbor, on his tractor, had just removed the ice from all the roads and driveways in our neighborhood. No external "help". It's just us. When one old man (89) got under his own tractor, we had organized immediately, bringing him food... rather, them, because the other members of the family couldn't drive either.

If you count on yourself, you are probably less sad about the world not doing taking care of you.

Actually, I have to confess, it's still hard for me to get used to.

Sometimes these two things happen within days of each other, or even simultaneously. “I’m a loyal Democrat who thinks the party is badly led, especially in Congress, and ineffective as a result, and should immediately remove its leadership class” is apparently not a position you’re allowed to hold.

No, I am not joining DSA because I think Democratic leaders are bad. I have always thought Democratic leaders are bad and I have always been a Democrat. I am still a Democrat and think Democratic leaders are bad. I have not been "radicalized." I have been proven right.

I didn't know that republicans do not believe in therapy...have not heard of a requirement to declare your political preference before seeing a therapist or sharing that one does see a therapist with anyone...

One doesn't need to record party-therapy preferences for everyone. You can get that knowledge bit with pretty high confidence via channels ranging from surveys to correlating therapy levels with party preferences across geographies.

Понятно, что Ханания не профессиональный социолог, а просто популярный блоггер. Но никто не запрещает блоггерам проводить собственные исследования и эксперименты.

Другое дело, если в его работе содержится какой-то очевидный изъян, который обнуляет ее ценность. Но я пока его не вижу.

Мої претензії не до Хананії, а до себе -- я не помітив, що це просто спостереження непрофесіонала, а думав, що це реальне статистичне дослідження.

Так я пытаюсь понять, чем "реальные статистические исследования" отличаются от "наблюдений непрофессионала". В какой момент человек, собравший и проанализировавший массив данных, приобретает статус "профессионального исследователя"? Если можно быть астрономом-любителем и вносить вклад в науку, то почему нельзя быть социологом-любителем? Почему работа, проделанная "непрофессионалом", заслуживает меньше внимания, чем работа проделанная "профессионалом"?

С учетом того, что в работах "профессионалов" нередко содержатся явные ляпы, а воспроизводимость исследований в социальной психологии невысока, наличие или отсутствие звания, должности, зарплаты и грантов представляется малосущественным фактором.

Спостереження -- це стартова точка для дослідження, яка дає можливість задати питання "чи є ефект Х", дальше іде планування, і вже потім дослідження. Observation > hypothesis > study > conclusion.
Різниця між професіоналом і ні тут мінімальна і несуттєва -- професіонал більш схильний наперед оцінити можливі байаси.
Хананія все написав правильно: що це спостереження, чесно описав його недоліки. Тому до нього претензій і нема.
